YAMAHA MT-09 MAKES IT DEBUT IN MALAYSIA

PETALING JAYA, 25 JUNE 2014 – Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn. Bhd. (HLYM) introduced its latest big bike flag-ship model, Yamaha MT-09, a 4 stroke, 850 cc liquid cooled, 3-cylinder engine with fuel injection motorcycle.

“The big bike market (cc > 250) performed very well in year 2013, increasing by another 50% to 13,912 units as compared to 9,278 units in 2012. This “boom” in big bike sales started in year 2011, mainly attributed to introduction of exciting new models with affordable pricing coupled with availability of loan financing. However, for the first four months of 2014, big bike market experienced a correction with demand increasing a modest 7% against the same corresponding period of last year” said Mr C.H. Ng, Managing Director of Hong Leong Yamaha Motor.

“The introduction of the Yamaha MT-09 marks our second major big bike model in our product line-up and will be our “flag ship” model, besides the Yamaha XJ6. This global model, MT-09 represents a whole new concept in sport bike design. With a compact new chassis and high torque 850 cc 3-cylinder engine, this new generation performance machine is designed for riders who appreciate character and soul” added Mr Ng.

Launched at One World Hotel today, the new Yamaha MT-09 CBU is priced at RM 54,000 (excluding road tax, insurance and number plate) and is available at selected authorised Yamaha dealerships nationwide starting from July. Available in Violet, Orange and Matt Grey, the introduction of Yamaha MT-09 will offer customers a wider choice to match their discerning lifestyle and riding preferences.

The new Yamalube Fully Synthetic 4T Oil and Semi Synthetic AT Oil were also introduced as the latest addition to the Yamalube range of motorcycle lubricants.
