ISKANDAR PUTERI, JOHOR, 24 AUGUST 2024 – Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn Bhd (HLYM) has officially entered the Malaysia Book of Records, with two records being set at the fifth edition of the Yamaha GEN BLU Carnival held at Bandar Medini, Iskandar Puteri, Johor. The first record was for the Biggest Gathering of Single-Brand Motorcycles in Malaysia which hits a record of 16,008 bikers in a single event.
The second record was for the Longest Distance Travelled by a Female Motorcycle Convoy. The Yamaha GEN BLU Carnival is an annual carnival organised by HLYM and aims to celebrate the support of all its customers and industry partners through its 1C5S philosophy (Customer- first, Sales, Service, Spare Parts, Society and Safety) that prioritizes customer satisfaction and an elevated user experience. This year, the carnival was officially launched by Hong Leong Industries Berhad Group Managing Director, Professor Dato’ Dr. Jim Khor Mun Wei together with HLYM Director, Mr. Taketoshi Takabayashi; HLYM General Manager of Branding & Marketing, Mr. Hoo Wan Tim; and HLYM General Manager of 3S, Mr. Teo Ming Wei.
The highlight of the carnival was the unveiling of the much-anticipated Yamaha PG-1 (Playful Gear 1) bike (“PG-1”). Designed to elevate the adventure riding experience, the PG-1 boasts a 5.1L fuel tank, a lightweight 114cc air cooled single-cylinder engine delivering an impressive 9.5Nm of torque, and a 190mm ground clearance for smooth off-road riding. Its dual seat configuration offers both comfort and ample storage space. True to its tagline, “Be Free, Be You!”, the PG-1 comes with a rugged yet classic look and is easily customizable with accessories tailormade to match the rider’s personalized tastes. For those seeking to unleash their inner
persona, the PG-1 is crafted to spark your personality and fuel your spirit for adventure.
Carnival attendees were given an exclusive opportunity to test ride the PG-1, available in both Casual Beige and Forest Green, and customizable with a range of accessories. The new bike, which will be officially launched later this year, comes with a recommended retail price of RM6,998 (excluding registration fees and insurance coverage).
The carnival also featured a Grand Lucky Draw, with HLYM giving away five brand new motorcycles, including a Yamaha PG-1 with “adventure-seeker” persona accessories, Yamaha XMAX, Yamaha E25, Yamaha Y15ZR, and a Yamaha 135LC. There were also performances by Amir Masdi and Ara Johari, as well as the launch of the new GEN BLU Energy Drink by local influencer Boss James and the Best Custom Bike Challenge.
