ROUTE TO SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT FLOODED BY 1,300 RIDERS IN YAMAHA BIKERZ MOTOGP CONVOY

Cyberjaya – Sunday,4 November 2018 – Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) Sdn Bhd received massive support from bikers during the Yamaha Bikerz MotoGP Riding Convoy 2018 to Sepang International Circuit (SIC), coinciding with the return of the Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix 2018.
About 1,300 spirited Yamaha bikers from all over Malaysia donned their signature Yamaha Racing Blue outfits and gathered at TSI Sports Arena in Cyberjaya for the early morning flag-off. Personnel from Polis DiRaja Malaysia as well as a sizable number of road marshals were on hand to provide road safety and emergency services support.

This year, a combination of black and green graced the HLYM signature t-shirt in support of Malaysia’s very first MotoGP Rider, Hafizh Syahrin who will be racing on a Yamaha MotoGP M1.

The convoy was flagged-off by Dato’ Jim Khor, Managing Director of HLYM, Mr. Koh Eng Chan, General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn Bhd and HLYM’s co-sponsor partner, Dato’ Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Tahir, Vice President of Marketing Downstream, PETRONAS.

“HLYM has been organising convoys for many years and this event in particular thrills riders by making them feel like part of the Motorcycle Grand Prix itself. It also strengthens the bond between our bikers and helps us promote safe riding practices,” said Dato’ Jim Khor, Managing Director of HLYM while adding that the convoy reflects their full support for Hafizh Syahrin, especially in his historic first MotoGP home performance.

At the end of their journey, riders were rewarded with one Grandstand tickets, food vouchers, custom-made Yamaha t-shirts and passes for the exclusive Yamaha biker parking in SIC on race days.
