31 Aug ARRC ROUND 4:QUALIFYING REPORT
PETRONAS Hong Leong Yamaha’s Mohd Zamri Baba bounced back from Friday’s disappointment to lock a third row start in the SuperSports 600cc qualifying session of the PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship at the Suzuka Circuit, Japan today.
The 30-year old who is gunning for his maiden SuperSports 600cc title secured seventh grid by clocking in seventh fastest with 2’15.631s, shaving off 1.684 seconds off his practice lap time (2’17.315s).
Zamri will start the race alongside Tomoyoshi Koyama and Yuki Ito while Championship leader, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman is set to take off from pole position having posted the fastest lap of 2’14.107s.
SuperSports 600cc rookie, Mohd Ramdan Rosli qualified for row six.
Underbone 115cc
Hong Leong Yamaha’s Ahmad Afif Amran and Mohd Adib Rosley looks ready to mount a podium challenge as both riders qualified top five in the Underbone 115cc class.
Afif of PETRONAS Hong Leong Yamaha bagged third spot on the grid with 1’03.217s and will start besides poleman, Hadi Wijaya (1’02.682s) and Harlan Fadhillah (1’03.029s).
Meanwhile Adib (Outdo Koyoko Motul Yamaha YY Pang) took fourth, 1’03.278s.
